Mr. Obie Moore, Chief Executive Officer, DP Holding SA
Mr. Obie Moore is currently the CEO of DP Holding SA (DPH), a multinational Geneva- based Swiss investment company. DPH actively manages its direct investments made in a wide-range of sectors, including major European property portfolios, alternative and renewable energy, media, banking, telecommunications and portfolio assets.
Until March 1, 2008, Mr. Moore was partner in the 750-attorney international law firm, Salans. Besides serving since 1997 as managing partner of the Salans Bucharest Office, Mr. Moore was one of seven members of the firm’s Global Board of Directors. He has been engaged in international corporate law since being admitted to practice in the US in 1981. During this time, Mr. Moore has worked throughout the developing world in Southeast Asia, the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and emerging markets of Central and Southeast Europe. As a highly recognized mergers and acquisions, real estate, corporate finance, and private equity lawyer in Romania and the region, he was the responsibleattorney on major acquisitions and ground-breaking transactions in Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania and Moldova. His representations included cross-border acquisitions and financings, which target real estate, telecommunications, energy/power, building materials, hotels, banks, transportation and distribution, consumer goods and beverages, insurance, and pharmaceutical companies.
Prior to returning to private law practice in Bucharest, Mr. Moore served from 1994 to 1997 as managing director and vice president of the Romanian Enterprise American Fund, a $50 million private equity fund in Romania, which was established by the US government to invest in private sector companies in Romania. From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Moore was a US government personal services contractor in Romania, funded by grants from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), working to help build the private sector in Romania.
Before relocating to Bucharest, where he resided from July 1992 until August 2008, Mr. Moore was a senior associate in the international corporate and banking practice group of the Washington, DC law firm Shaw Pittman (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, which has 1,400 attorneys worldwide). He also served as senior legislative counsel in Washington, DC for a major US retail corporation and counsel to a major US oil and gas services company, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, advising its Eastern Hemisphere Operations Division.
Mr. Moore graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in finance (1978), with honors; Oklahoma University School of Law, JD(1981); Oxford University, Queens College, external studies in international law (Summer 1979); University of Georgia School of Law, LLM (1985).
He is a licensed practitioner of law and a member in good standing in the bars of the District of Columbia and State of Oklahoma. Until 2008, Mr. Moore was also a licensed member of the bar associations of Bucharest, Romania and the Law Society of England and Wales. He is also a past member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and vice chairman of the ABA’s Central Europe Law Committee, International Law Section.
Mr. Moore was the president of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (2002-2004) and a board member of the same organization from October 2000 to April 2008. From 2003 to 2009, he was also a member of the board of the US Fulbright Commission, which awards academic scholarships to both Romania and United States academics to study abroad. He also served as a board member of the Junior Achievement in Romania, The Friends of the National Art Museum of Romania, and the Eisenhower Scholarship Selection Committee, Romania.
Mr. Moore is member of the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Council, the leading global public policy think tank based in Washington, DC .
Mr. Moore is a US citizen and native of Austin, Texas. He is a native English speaker, and also speaks Romanian. He is married, has two daughters and resides in Versiox, Switzerland.
