Marc Champion, Istanbul Bureau Chief, Wall Street Journal
Marc Champion has been The Wall Street Journal’s Istanbul Bureau Chief since January 2010. He joined the Journal in 2000 in London, where he was European politics and diplomacy correspondent, before moving to Brussels as deputy bureau chief for Brussels, Germany and Eastern Europe. Before moving to the Journal, Mr. Champion was European News Editor for the Financial Times in 1998-1999.
In 1992 Mr. Champion joined the newly created The Moscow Times as News Editor, before becoming Editor in Chief in 1994. He was also a foreign correspondent for the British daily The Independent, from 1987-1992, reporting from Washington, Romania, the war in former Yugoslavia and finally Moscow.
