H.E. Alexander Khetaguri, Minister of Energy, Georgia
H.E. Alexander Khetaguri is the current Minister of Energy of Georgia.
Prior to his appointment as Minister, from 2006-2007 H.E. Khetaguri served as General Director of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation. Before his position there, he acted as First Deputy Minister of Energy from 2005-2006 and Deputy Minister of Energy from 2004-2005.
From 2002-2004 H.E. Khetaguri was Director of the Data Ware and Analysis Department of the Georgian National Energy Regulatory Commission, and from 2000-2002 was Chief Specialist in the agency’s Economic Department. H.E. Khetaguri joined the National Energy Regulatory Commission as a specialist in 1999.
H.E. Khetaguri holds a Bachelor’s degree from Georgian Technical University (1997), and a Master’s degree from the same university’s Faculty of Energy with a specialization in Energy Management (2002). He also earned a Master’s degree with honors from the Tiblisi Business and Marketing Institute, Faculty of Economics, with a specialization in Accounting and Audit in 2000. He has also undergone advanced training in Finance and Budget Management by USAID, and Utility Regulation and Strategy at the University of Florida.
